Eating Right – A Way to Happiness

In this competitive and fast growing world, people tend to have more stress than earlier days. And also the growing demands of junk foods have heightened the stress level in overall mass. These fast foods can only lead you to obesity, illness and rotten mood. So, in order to live a stress free life what we need to do is eating foods that make you feel happy. Foods that we eat can easily affect our mood so it is necessary to choose food wisely. Before we discuss about the names and types of healthy foods, we need to know little bit about our functions of brains that affects mood. Researchers have found that two types of neurotransmitters are responsible for our moods namely inhibitory and excitatory. What simulates our body and mind is due to excitatory neurotransmitters like norepinephrine. Actually, it is a natural phenomenon that after being happy for too long we get worn out or tired and automatically you experience unhappiness. In this case, inhibitory neurotransmitters like serotonin exert a calming impact on our moods through the process of counteracting the effects of excitatory neurotransmitters. That is why, it is very necessary to find balance between these two types of neurotransmitters in order to attain the best and happy moods. 

The foods that make you happy are the foods that contain all the necessary compounds and it creates naturally the so called mood-affecting chemicals. These worth mentioning foods that can make you feel happy are as follows:
Spinach:

 
This dark leafy green vegetable is rich in iron and also contains Vitamin B Folate. This type of vitamin can help raising the levels of endorphins in the body. If your endorphin level is healthy then it is for sure that you will overcome any stressful and depressive episodes. And, for this is the only reason why, Endorphins are also known as happy hormones.

Eggs:
 
 
 Eggs are the great food to make you feel happier. That is why, it is considered as a food that fights depression. Eggs are rich in protein and eggs contain moderate-to-large amount of Zinc, Vitamin B, Iodine, Omega-3 Fatty Acids which are very helpful elements for a healthy diet. The yolk part of egg is enriched with vitamin B and definitely it is the essential nutrient to lift a mood, since they help to develop the process in which the neural transmitters function.

Asparagus:
 
 
This good looking green vegetable is rich in high levels of folate and tryptophan. In the process of curing depression folate is an inevitable nutrient because maximum cases of depression have been linked to low levels of folate. Moreover, tryptophan is helpful to produce serotonin in the brain and hence improve moods. To reduce the mood swings it is beneficial to eat asparagus. So it is advisable to include asparagus in your super food diet list at least two meals a day.

Dark Chocolate:
 
The sweet and simple rule is if you want to stay away from stress then eat dark chocolate. Researchers have included the dark chocolate in the list of happy food to eat. Eating a few ounce of dark chocolate daily can help brain to release serotonin to regulate our mood. Dark chocolate has also other health benefits. The mood-boosting compounds such as theobromine and phenylethyamine have the power to reduce stress hormone levels among the people with complain of high anxiety level.  Due to rich in cocoa and antioxidants dark chocolates are beneficial to eat for a healthy heart and anti-ageing as well.

Bananas:
 
 
It is a great fruit considered as mood enhancer. It contains high amount of potassium and also it contributes ample amount of tryptophan to our diets. Particularly, women who are fighting with depression should include banana regularly to their diet to overcome such negative mental state. As our bodies cannot produce tryptophan naturally so it needs tryptophan to create a stable mood and banana is a great source of tryptophan.

Walnuts:
 
 
Eating a hand full of walnut is a great way to fight depression, anxiety, irritability, and insomnia. Walnut contains antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acids which helps boosting serotonin, and magnesium. So, you can simply include walnut into your diet at least two times a day.

Tomatoes:
 
 Tomatoes not only look good, its valuable substance known as lycopene is an anti-oxidant and its duty is to fight depression causing inflammation in the brain and generally protects the brain. It is preferable to go for organic tomatoes because it has more nutrient than traditional tomatoes. Also it is advisable to eat tomatoes with olive oil for olive oil can increase the absorption of lycopene. The red color of tomatoes are caused by the lycopene only which lies in the tomato skin. Whether you eat tomatoes with salads or you cook, it is the good source to get lycopene in your diet.
